What does the Grip half do?
The Daisy Grip is the pattern on the backing that holds the pad against the floor and the rug against the pad. It grips mechanically, so nothing has to stick.
That matters because the alternative is latex. Latex holds well for a few years, then hardens, crumbles, or turns tacky against a finish — and a pad stuck to a floor means refinishing.
What does the Rip half do?
Your pad arrives cut to the rug's dimensions. Along the adjustable edges, it is scored every 2 inches. Grip the pad either side of a line, pull, and a full-length strip separates cleanly.
It feels like tearing a paper towel, and it takes about two seconds.
Why do both halves have to be there?
Grip without Rip is an ordinary cut-to-order pad: correct on paper, useless when the room measures differently than the drawing.
Rip without Grip is a pad that adjusts beautifully and then wanders under foot traffic. Together they cover the two things that actually go wrong with rug pads.
What does it look like on install day?
Unroll, let it relax for a minute, rip a strip if a side sits proud, set the rug. Under two minutes, no tools, nothing to sweep up.
