Luxe 1/4" Felt Rug Pad
Luxe is what most of the trade specifies by default. If you are not working around a door clearance or a transition strip, this is the pad.
Short answer
Luxe is a 1/4" felt rug pad cut to your rug's exact dimensions and perforated every 2 inches along its adjustable edges. It is the thickness most rugs want: enough density to stop a rug creeping and enough body to soften a hard floor underfoot, without lifting the rug high enough to catch a door or a chair leg.

Specify it for
Where Luxe belongs.
- Hand-knotted, wool and machine-made rugs in living and dining rooms
- Hardwood, LVP, tile and stone, where the pad both grips and cushions
- Rooms where the rug sits clear of doors and low furniture
- Any project where one thickness across the whole schedule is simpler
Specify the other one when
Door swings under about half an inch, transitions into carpet, layered rugs, and radiant heat. Luxe Lite is the answer on all four.
Luxe Lite 1/8" — Low profile. For clearances, transitions, layering and radiant heat.
Why 1/4 inch is the default
Thickness is the only performance decision a felt pad asks you to make, and a quarter inch is where most rugs land. It is enough material to keep a rug from travelling on a hard floor and enough to take the edge off underfoot, without raising the rug so far that a door catches or a dining chair tips at the edge. Specify it across a whole schedule and you remove a decision from every room.
What the perforation changes
The pad arrives cut to the dimensions you ordered, then scored every 2 inches along the edges that can move. If the room disagrees with the rug by an inch, you pull a strip by hand and set the rug. No blade, no straight edge, no felt dust on a finished floor, and nothing to carry back out.
Against a specified floor
There is no latex in the backing, so there is nothing to harden, go tacky, or print into a urethane finish over the years a rug sits in one place. The pads that mark floors are almost always rubber-backed. Daisy Grip holds the rug without adhesive and lifts clean.
Answers
Luxe 1/4": the questions that come up
Answers specific to this thickness. The full set lives on the FAQ.
What rug pad thickness should I specify?
Luxe 1/4 inch is the trade default: it adds cushion, body, and acoustic damping under most rugs. Luxe Lite 1/8 inch is for low-profile situations such as door clearance, transitions, layered rugs, and thin flatweaves.
How much smaller than the rug should a rug pad be?
The standard rule is roughly one inch smaller than the rug on each side, so the pad disappears under the rug's edge. Order at your rug's finished dimensions and the pad is cut to that convention automatically.
Do rug pads protect hardwood floors?
Yes, when the material is right. A felt pad lifts the rug off the floor so grit cannot grind into the finish, cushions furniture load, and stops the rug from sliding and abrading. The risk comes from latex- and rubber-backed pads, which harden and break down over time and can leave a residue on a finish.
What thicknesses are available?
Two: Luxe 1/4 inch, the trade favorite, and Luxe Lite 1/8 inch for low-profile situations. Keeping the range to two options is deliberate, because it makes the specification decision fast and repeatable.
