Luxe Lite 1/8" Felt Rug Pad

Specify Luxe Lite when height is the constraint rather than cushioning. Everything else about it — the felt, the backing, the perforation, the lead time — matches Luxe.

Short answer

Luxe Lite is a 1/8" felt rug pad cut to your rug's exact dimensions and perforated every 2 inches. It exists for the jobs where a quarter inch is too much height: a door that clears by a fraction, a transition into carpet or tile, a rug layered over another, or a floor with radiant heat underneath.

Pull-to-trim tabs printed along the perforated edge of a felt rug pad on an oak floor, with a hand folding an antique rug back to show them.
Luxe Lite is cut to the rug's finished dimensions and perforated every 2 inches on the edges that can move.

Specify it for

Where Luxe Lite belongs.

  • Doorways and passages where clearance is tight
  • Transitions where the rug meets carpet, tile or a threshold strip
  • Rugs layered over a larger rug or over broadloom
  • Floors with radiant heat, where less material means less insulation
  • Flatweaves and low-pile rugs that sit better on a thinner pad

Specify the other one when

Rooms where you want the rug to feel substantial underfoot. Luxe carries more body and is the better default when height is not a constraint.

Luxe 1/4" — The trade standard. Density and body for most rugs.

When height is the constraint

Most pad problems on install day are height problems. A door that cleared the bare floor no longer clears the rug. A threshold that was flush now has a lip. A layered rug reads as a bump rather than a composition. An eighth of an inch solves all of those without giving up grip, because the grip comes from the backing and the felt surface rather than from thickness.

Radiant heat

Felt insulates, and a pad's job over radiant heat is to protect the rug and the floor without fighting the system underneath. Less material between the floor and the room means the heat has less to get through, which is why the thinner pad is the one to specify over radiant slabs.

Same pad, less of it

Luxe Lite is the same 100% post-recycled felt and the same latex-free Daisy Grip backing as Luxe, cut to order in the same Georgia operation and perforated on the same 2-inch increments. Choosing between them is a height decision, not a quality one.

Answers

Luxe Lite 1/8": the questions that come up

Answers specific to this thickness. The full set lives on the FAQ.

What rug pad thickness should I specify?

Luxe 1/4 inch is the trade default: it adds cushion, body, and acoustic damping under most rugs. Luxe Lite 1/8 inch is for low-profile situations such as door clearance, transitions, layered rugs, and thin flatweaves.

Can the pad be installed over radiant floor heating?

Yes. Use the Luxe Lite 1/8 inch pad over radiant heat so the assembly stays thermally efficient. Felt is breathable and does not trap heat the way a solid synthetic pad can.

What pad do I use for layered rugs?

Use Luxe Lite 1/8 inch under the base rug so the stack does not become too tall for door clearance and furniture legs. A second pad between layers is rarely needed and usually adds instability.

What thicknesses are available?

Two: Luxe 1/4 inch, the trade favorite, and Luxe Lite 1/8 inch for low-profile situations. Keeping the range to two options is deliberate, because it makes the specification decision fast and repeatable.
