What are UnderItAll rug pads made of?

100% post-recycled felted fiber — polypropylene, polyester, and nylon — densified into a uniform pad, with a Daisy Grip pattern that holds the rug and the floor. There is no latex rubber in it anywhere, which is what keeps it breathable and free of the odor rubberized pads are known for.

Do rug pads protect hardwood floors?

Yes, when the material is right. A felt pad lifts the rug off the floor so grit cannot grind into the finish, cushions furniture load, and stops the rug from sliding and abrading. The risk comes from latex- and rubber-backed pads, which harden and break down over time and can leave a residue on a finish.

Why does a latex-free rug pad matter?

Latex breaks down. Give it a few years and it hardens, crumbles, or turns tacky against the floor, and a pad stuck to a finish leaves a mark that only refinishing removes. Going latex-free removes that whole failure mode, and the odor that comes with it.

What rug pad thickness should I specify?
